Our review
Comparative analysis · updated October 12, 2026Its one real edge is weight: 4.0 lb with the battery. Everything else is a weak spot: 10 N·m, one 4.3-mile battery, a China shipment with 7-day returns, and a price $210 above the 900 W Dnsys X1. Choose it only if weight outweighs all of that.
Scores by criterion
Pros
- 4.0 lb with the battery, about 0.9 lb lighter than the Dnsys X1
- 15 assist levels across 4 modes, set from the iOS and Android app
- Folding frame and a carry case in the box
- IP56 rating according to VIGX, a step above the IP54 of the Hypershell and Dnsys models
Cons
- Ships from Shenzhen, China: 7-day returns sent back to China, and a 1-year warranty handled from there
- Worrying owner reports: on the Canadian Amazon listing, 3 of the 4 buyers who wrote a review got a unit that did not work (2.1/5 from 5 ratings, Oct 1, 2026; a small sample)
- 10 N·m and one 4.3-mile battery: a gentle, short assist, for $210 more than the Dnsys X1

Frequently asked questions
Will I pay import duties on a VIGX π?
Possibly. The π ships from VIGX’s warehouse in Shenzhen, China, and VIGX states that customs duties or taxes are the recipient’s responsibility. The product page says taxes and shipping are calculated at checkout, but we could not confirm whether US import charges are collected there or by the carrier at your door.
Ask support@vigx.ai in writing before you order, and keep a margin in your budget. The Hypershell, Dnsys and Ascentiz models in our comparison ship from US warehouses, so this question does not come up. VIGX lists 10 to 15 business days of delivery to the US, with free standard shipping (checked Oct 5, 2026).
What happens if the π arrives broken?
Plan on a 7-day window. VIGX’s return policy gives you 7 days after delivery to request a return, for an unactivated unit in its original packaging, and returns go back to Shenzhen. The brand’s own pages are not consistent: another page mentions 15 days, so do not count on it.
The worry is real: the π has a 2.1/5 rating from 5 ratings on amazon.ca (Oct 1, 2026), and three buyers describe a unit that was dead on arrival. That is a small sample, and two of those units were open-box sales, but we found no independent test to balance it. Test the device the day it arrives and keep the box.
VIGX π, Dnsys X1 or Hypershell X Pro S at about the same price?
The Dnsys X1 costs $210 less and lists 900 W and 40 N·m, against 10 N·m for the π; it ships from Los Angeles in 3 to 7 business days. The Hypershell X Pro S costs $100 less, with 800 W and a 10.9-mile battery against 4.3 miles (VIGX prices checked Oct 5, 2026, the others Oct 1, 2026).
The π keeps one advantage: it weighs 0.9 lb less than the X1 and about 1.7 lb less than the X Pro S. If that gap matters to you, look at the π Plus for $300 more: same weight, 15 N·m. Otherwise the two US-shipped rivals are the safer buy.
Alternatives
Dnsys X1
Hypershell's direct rival: 900 W and 40 N·m for $110 less than the X Carbon. In real use, range and strap comfort fall behind.
AstroShell Alpha 1
A hip exoskeleton from a Florida-based brand: 1,000 W peak, two batteries on board and 5.3 lb in total, at the lowest 1,000 W price in our comparison.
