Our review

Comparative analysis · updated October 2, 2026

Discontinued by Hypershell and not sold in its US store. It was the lowest-spec way in: 400 W, 6 modes and one battery. The X Pro S and the X Carbon, with twice the power, are now the Hypershell entry points you can order in the US.

Pros

  • A gentle first step: 400 W and 6 modes make for an easy introduction to powered assist
  • 5.5 lb with its battery, the same weight as the 1,000 W X Ultra

Cons

  • Discontinued, and not listed in the US store as of Oct 1, 2026

Frequently asked questions

Can I still buy the Hypershell X Go in the US?

Not from Hypershell: its US store did not list the X Go on Oct 1, 2026, and the maker has discontinued the model.

The X Pro S and the X Carbon, both 800 W, were the lowest-priced Hypershells in that store ($999 each, checked Oct 1, 2026).

Does the assist really help, or is it a gadget?

The assist is clear uphill and with a loaded pack, and almost irrelevant on flat ground.

It is not a performance tool: it is for climbing and carrying, not for records on flat ground. The motor can also warm up during long use.
