Our review

Comparative analysis · updated October 2, 2026

Four coordinated motors assist the hip and the knee, going up and coming down: no other consumer exoskeleton motorizes both joints. Main drawback: weight, 7.1 lb on the body plus a 0.8 lb battery. It is also a preorder, shipping late November 2026.

Scores by criterion

Assist power10.0 Real-world range7.5 Weight and comfort7.0 Value for money8.5 Warranty and support9.5

Pros

  • Hip and knee both motorized: assist on the way up and cushioning on the way down, according to Hypershell
  • IP54 and rated down to -4 °F, with a frame that is 77% carbon fiber
  • 30+ sensors and an AI that predicts movement 0.2 seconds ahead, and a five-buckle fit that takes about 20 seconds, according to Hypershell
  • Battery worn apart from the harness, so its 0.8 lb is not on your hips

Cons

  • 7.1 lb with the harness, plus a 0.8 lb battery, against 5.5 lb with battery for the X Ultra: two more motors, and you carry them
  • The 12.4-mile range is an Eco-mode figure at 30% power: with strong assist on all four motors, a second battery becomes necessary quickly
  • The priciest consumer model in our comparison, and a preorder that ships in late November 2026

Frequently asked questions

Should I preorder the Halo?

If you want what the Halo does, yes: no other consumer exoskeleton motorizes both the hip and the knee. It is a preorder at $2,299 (price checked Oct 1, 2026), with shipping planned for late November 2026.

If your use is mostly uphill assist, the X Carbon costs $1,300 less and ships now.

How far does the Halo go on a charge?

The 12.4-mile figure comes from a treadmill run at 2.5 mph with a 1-degree incline, in Eco mode at 30% power: the best case. With strong assist on rough terrain, expect noticeably less, as with every model in the category.

The battery is worn separately from the harness, so it adds nothing to the weight on your hips.

Is the Halo a medical device?

No, and Hypershell says so. You must be able to stand and move your legs on your own and keep your balance without help.

It is recreation equipment. For joint pain or a mobility problem, ask a doctor or physical therapist before you buy.
