Pros
- 1,000 W peak at the lowest price of any 1,000 W model in our comparison
- Two batteries in the box, swappable without cutting the assist; the spare stays in its housing
- 5.3 lb with both batteries on board, thanks to a magnesium alloy frame
- Owners report easier climbs: the effort stays yours, but they arrive with lighter legs
Cons
- 14.9 miles in total, 7.5 per battery: the X Ultra more than doubles that range for $200 more
- Quality control is a concern: a few owners received an incomplete unit (battery wire, joint ring), and one got no answer from support
Who it's for
Buyers who want 1,000 W without paying for a top-tier model and keep their sessions under about 15 miles of assist.
Who it's not for
Anyone who needs more than 14.9 miles without recharging: the X Ultra goes much further for $200 more.

Frequently asked questions
Why do I see Alpha 1 Classic and Alpha 1 Pro?
They are three names for one device. The February 2026 launch release said Alpha 1 Pro, the brand’s store sells it as Alpha 1 Classic, and other sellers list it as Alpha 1.
The specs are the same: 1,000 W peak, 4.4 lb without batteries and two 7.5-mile batteries. AstroShell’s only other model, the Alpha 1 Xload, is a load-carrying exoskeleton at $3,999 (checked Oct 1, 2026 on the brand’s store).
Where should I buy the Alpha 1?
From AstroShell’s own store, or on Amazon.com, where AstroShell Store sells it and Amazon ships it. Compare both listings before ordering, since the price can differ between them.
Check the unit as soon as it arrives: a few owners received an incomplete one.
Alpha 1 or Hypershell X Ultra?
On AstroShell’s store, the Alpha 1 is $200 cheaper than the X Ultra (prices checked Oct 1, 2026) and slightly lighter, 5.3 lb against 5.5 lb, with both batteries on board.
The X Ultra offers 37.3 miles against 14.9, 12 modes and a better support score in our grid. For short sessions the Alpha 1 saves money; for range, the X Ultra wins.
Alternatives
Hypershell X Ultra
Our top pick: 1,000 W, two 18.6-mile batteries and a carbon frame, for $600 less than the X Ultra S, which has the same power and range.
Ascentiz H Pro
1,000 W, a quick-fit harness and a modular belt, but one 15.5-mile battery: the X Ultra costs only $100 more and ships with two.
Dnsys X1
Hypershell's direct rival: 900 W and 40 N·m for $110 less than the X Carbon. In real use, range and strap comfort fall behind.
